Following the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2024, the Municipal Youth Education Center of the City of Frankfurt, in cooperation with the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Fra UAS), organized an online specialist event for professionals in Open-Door Child and Youth Work activities (OKJA) in Frankfurt am Main. It was entitled "Promoting Togetherness – Opening up Humane Perspectives: Educational Work Critical of Antisemitism and Racism in Open-Door Child and Youth Work". The lecture by Prof. Dr. Anastasia Paschalidou (Fra UAS) included inputs on the role and mission of educational professionals in the OKJA in dealing with antisemitism and racism, the recognized definitions of antisemitism and racism as well as commonalities and exemplary educational strategies at the levels of primary prevention and secondary prevention (self-reflective and multi-perspective approaches). At the end of the online event, the 25 professionals had the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas.
