Short Notice Invitation: Get Together & Talk – in Berlin
The terrorist attacks by Hamas on Israel and the resulting pain, grief and bewilderment are a constant concern for us. More than 120 hostages are still in the hands of Hamas. More than 200,000 people have been evacuated from the towns attacked in southern Israel and from the border region with Lebanon and are being housed in emergency shelters in other parts of Israel. Israel is at war, more than 300,000 (young) female reservists have been called up to fight to defend the country. Daily rocket attacks on various regions of the country disrupt everyday life.
Especially in these times, we want to consciously maintain contact with our partners and friends in Israel. In our series of talks, we invite people from Israel to tell us about current developments and contexts of meaning from their perspective. Together we want to explore the following questions:
- How is Israeli society – in all its diversity and dismay – coping with the attacks of October 7, 2023?
- How should the Hamas attack and the war it triggered be interpreted internationally?
- What information and contexts of meaning are politically and socially important now?
- What needs to be done – by Germany, in Germany, in the midst of German civil society?
- What are the implications for encounters and exchange?
Our next guests will be in Berlin. The discussion will take place in presence, with:
- Tal Madar, Council of Youth Movements in Israel
- Elia Morgulev, Kaye Academic College of Education
- Roy Shaul, The Israel Boy and Girl Scouts Federation
- Dr. Etti Isler, The Israel Federation of Community Centers
- George Stevens, Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed – The Working and Studying Youth
