WE ARE CONNECTED. Facing Education & Encounter after October 7

Federal Minister Lisa Paus Opens Network Conference

As part of the initiative WE ARE CONNECTED. German-Israeli Youth Exchange in Support for Israel, ConAct – Coordination Center for German-Israeli Youth Exchange hosted around 50 exchange partnerships with more than 100 youth and education professionals from Germany and Israel in Berlin from April 8 to 10, 2024. Federal Youth Minister Lisa Paus – patron of the initiative – opened the network conference on April 8 with words of confidence:

It is currently particularly important to me to maintain the exchange between the partners despite the ongoing conflicts and to continue to strengthen the relationships that have grown over the years. [...] We were, are and will remain connected.

The educational challenges arising from the consequences of October 7 in Israel for bilateral exchange work were discussed in various formats. To this end, an educational toolkit was presented, which was developed by a bilateral working group with representatives from the German-Israeli youth exchange. At the same time, the event sent a strong signal of connectedness between the two countries. In addition to the exchange on educational challenges, it was a central concern to explore possibilities for future exchange programs together with the partners from Israel.
