Action Reconciliation Service for Peace in Support of its Partners

At the beginning of July 2024, ASF Managing Director Jutta Weduwen and ASF Vice-Chair Andreas Kroneder visited friends and partner organizations in Jerusalem. They made plans with their colleagues at the ASF Beit Ben Yehuda guest house on how groups can come to the house again in the near future and how practical solidarity with the people of Israel can be expressed.

In conversation with Ruthi Berger, who immigrated to Israel as a 12-year-old in the 1950s, it became clear how much the exchange with the volunteers is missed. Ruthi has been a mentor for the ASF volunteers for many years. The volunteers are like grandchildren to her, whom she accompanies and advises.

Irene Aue-Ben-David, Director of the Leo Baeck Institute in Jerusalem, also feels the consequences of the devastating attacks by Hamas, Hezbollah and the Iranian regime. Delegations have canceled their visits and the planned renovation of the building has had to be postponed due to a lack of specialists. However, work continues on the digital side.

The cityscape in Jerusalem is characterized by great concern for the hostages. Everywhere there are photos and yellow ribbons calling for the hostages to be released. These images are depressing. It is very important that they are not forgotten.

Action Reconciliation Service for Peace co-founded the network netzwerkisrael.de and would like to express solidarity with all people in Israel and do everything possible to support those suffering from the attacks and ensure that contact is not broken off.
